Review: Static Trapeze

As my Friend Hollie and I explore the London fitness class scene, we are becoming more adventurous.  We started off with Barry’s Bootcamp, then we moved on to Rebounding at Frame, and next we decided on something totally different, Static Trapeze 🤸.  Most people who I told thought it sounded like a cool idea, but that we were totally bonkers🤪.  We may be bonkers, but … Continue reading Review: Static Trapeze

Poll: Would you run a marathon?

With spring marathon fever everywhere, you might be filled with envy, fear, excitement, anticipation, relief?  Whatever it is, it certainly feels like the marathon has gone mainstream, from the coveted echelons on Boston, to the desired streets of London, and of course the beauty of Paris – every where and one seems to be talking about the marathon.  And not just the well known ones, … Continue reading Poll: Would you run a marathon?

After the Marathon

It’s done, I’ve done all the training, raised the some money for a good cause, and ran the race.  It’s all done.  Whether you are happy with how you did (or not), it’s all boiled down to that day, and now it is over.  Here are some thoughts for those coming to terms with the post-marathon phase, and what you might expect. 1. Over analysing … Continue reading After the Marathon

Race Review: Brighton Marathon

So, this was my first marathon, and I was pretty proud that I ran 100% of my training plan.  I did substitute a few of the intervals sessions for different ones, but I always hit the mileage, week after week. So, after a pretty successful final 20 mile long run, and a nice taper, I felt ready to do this.  Everyone said, I’d done all the hard work, now was just to go out and do what I trained to do.  Run 26.2 miles. Marathon Training Week 13-16

The highest mileage week in the plan, week 13 came and went, and I took it all in stride, then after that is was all kinds of taper loveliness for weeks 14 and 15 and I felt a little bit like I was twiddling my thumbs with all my spare time.  Week 16 I was consumed with pre-race preparations: travel logistics, nutrition, hydration, and what … Continue reading Marathon Training Week 13-16

Review: Rebounding

Next on our London fitness adventure, Holly and I wanted to try something fun.  Barry’s Bootcamp (see review here) was very serious (trendy, yes) but serious.  We wanted to have some fun 🤸.  We came across rebounding at Frame, and thought, what can be more fun than bouncing on a trampoline to music.  They say: 20 minutes of rebounding is the equivalent of an HOUR … Continue reading Review: Rebounding

Race Review: The Big Half

I love a big London race, where they close down the roads, and you get all the atmosphere, bands, crowds, noise, charities, big finish – it’s just pretty special.  So I’ve only done 10km races in London, and since last year, I’ve been secretly wanting to do The Big Half. This year I didn’t sign up, simply because of the expense. I’ve already spent quite … Continue reading Race Review: The Big Half

Marathon Training Week 11 & 12

Things were slowing down to a snails pace, and I was getting worried about it.  I’m hoping that this is all part of the plan (the master marathon training plan), and that as I build up the mileage in my legs, I am going slower, to cope, and things will all go back to normal once my legs get adjusted.  Here’s how week 11 and … Continue reading Marathon Training Week 11 & 12
