What a stunner of a morning ❤️, I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather and meh with an earache this week. But this morning I woke up at 5, worked for 2 hours, and shot out the door for an hour of dawn solitude (and the 6 miles that my marathon plan said I should do) before I returned in time for the school run. Brian’s out at cricket nets tonight, so today was no bicycle commute, and no @sweatshoprunning group run. Instead, I ploughed through putting away the laundry, cooking kids dinner, and squeezed in a 20minute @thebodycoach hiit workout, which got me sweating! So proud of this one who volunteered to come out with me for my run, even after 2 hours of rugby practice in the morning. It was a tough session that flew by, thanks to my coach. I squeezed my long run in yesterday evening. You see, I have a hair appointment this morning, and I’m out tonight, and I wasn’t sure doing 16 miles for the first time ever on Sunday slightly hungover was a great idea. Plus I couldn’t ruin fresh hair 💇🏼‍♀️with a sweaty run. I’m so happy I got it done, was it tough, yes, was it impossible, no 💁🏼‍♀️. I realise that me chronicalling my marathon training on my blog might be interminably boring 🤭 but it’s my first one, so the excitement (and fear) is legitimate. These last 2 weeks were filled with bloopers, like when I forgot my bank card in the office, so I had to run the whole way home from the office and not just the miles on my plan. 🤦🏼‍♀️ But I’m pretty proud that I’ve stuck to the plan so well, and not managed to piss off my lovely husband with all the running 💁🏼‍♀️, and not missed any activities, like weekends away and birthdays 🎉. Based on my marathon plan, this week was a 32 miler, but I’m short. Today’s run is the only one without an explicit distance (just 2mi up 8 x60sec hill reps 2mi down), but if you tot up all the other miles this week, it meant that in order to reach 32 miles this week, today’s run needed to be 8 miles, which was only poss, if I ran 400m each 60s up hill (correct me if I’m wrong 🤔) which I didn’t do. So I’m a bit short this week (just 2 miles). Anyways, i headed out early today (it was soooo cold ❄️), so bc of the early start I didn’t miss giving my gorgeous Eben all the birthday 🎉 love he could handle, which if you know him (and me) it’s a lot ❤️❤️❤️. Long run done for week 6 of marathon training. 14 miles in the plan (the longest I’ve ever run). I ran 8 easy and slippy ⛸miles, then another 3 at ParkRun (26:45) then another 3 easy to finish off. At one point I was so cold, my hands were so numb, I couldn’t get my ear phones back in, I just couldn’t feel my hands, ear, or earbud 🥶🥶🥶 but I managed to pick up the pace for final mile of ParkRun (8:15) and that warmed me up enough to finish the miles. No fancy @scienceinsport gel this week, I stole a kids jelly thing which was left over from Eben’s birthday party.
