So happy I finally was able to get back to some normal routine today, kids back in school, me back to commuting on my bike (yay exercise 😄) Now we just need to get my husband home, not long now, just a few more days and everything will be back to normal. I loved today’s cycle more than I can say and I felt so amped up, I even went through Richmond Park to tackle some hills (something I’ve been avoiding on my cycle commute, while marathon training). She’s a beaut! It’s taken me a few days to digest the @brightonmarathonweekend but now my legs have recovered (I’ve been bum shuffling up and down stairs 😂😬😫), and my mind has too 💁🏼‍♀️, it’s a lot to process, 16 long weeks of training, distances you never thought you could do, and it all boils down to one day 🏃🏼‍♀️. My first marathon story involves an epic cheer squad I saw 3 times on the course 👋, a tiny rock 🤬, a lot of wind 💨, and a total mind implosion in the later miles of the race 🤯. I’m making it sound great, right 🤣, but it was great and I did it, and I’m so happy. And here’s me all done, 4 hrs 15 mins @brightonmarathonweekend 🤗 I made some rookie errors (like running the 1st half too fast, and running for miles with a teeny tiny rock in my shoe, under the ball of my foot, ouchie), but it’s all good... especially when I got to see my amazing cheer squad 3 times on the course! Just 7 days to go until @brightonmarathonweekend 😃😬🤪. I went taper-crazy the other day and to compensate for running less mileage (and still eating like a gannet) I did 3 back to back body weight @fitbitcoach workouts, which felt great at the time 💪🏻 but now my glutes and legs are in a world of pain 😫 what an idiot 🤦🏼‍♀️ So my run today was a little compromised, and the paces I wanted to feel strong at were a struggle. Anyways, it wasn’t 10 miles as on the plan, but close enough, a mile and a bit won’t make or break this marathon, but no more ridiculous workouts.
