Race Review: Wedding Day 7K Race

If you do a race twice, it must be a good one.  The Wedding Day 7KM is definitely a good one, and I’ve done it in 2018 and 2019 (both times dressed as a bride👰, keep reading for lots of photos), and I will 100% be there for the 40th anniversary of this race next year.  So, despite being a local institution of a race, what’s it all about. Why wedding day, why 7K? So many questions… Continue reading “Race Review: Wedding Day 7K Race”

Race Review: Hard as Snails

This was the first race I booked after the Brighton Marathon.  I waited almost 2 whole weeks (which seemed like forever) before I booked another race.  I didn’t want to rush into anything, and initially after the marathon ended I was desperately seeking a fall marathon to have another crack at the big 26.2.  But then I came across this little gem, Hard as Snails.  It sounded hard, ✔️.  It was an off-road trail run, ✔️.  I would do the 10K distance, and my 8 year old son Ellis, could do the 2K distance, ✔️✔️.  It was a mid-week evening run, well clear of any cricket games my husband might be playing, ✔️.  There was a snail shaped medal for all participants, yes please 🐌, ✔️.  And it left a reasonable amount of time to train as well, final ✔️, and out came my credit card and I booked!

I was pleased I’d not instantly booked another marathon, and was going to tackle something Continue reading “Race Review: Hard as Snails”

Race Review: The Big Half

I love a big London race, where they close down the roads, and you get all the atmosphere, bands, crowds, noise, charities, big finish – it’s just pretty special.  So I’ve only done 10km races in London, and since last year, I’ve been secretly wanting to do The Big Half. This year I didn’t sign up, simply because of the expense. I’ve already spent quite … Continue reading Race Review: The Big Half

Race Review: Hampton Court Half Marathon

Around these parts (Teddington/Twickenham/Kingston – just outside of London) if you tell people that you are doing the Hampton Court Half Marathon, they will say, the February one or the March one.  Then conspiratorially with a smirk they may add, the ‘original one’?  You see there are two Hampton Court Half marathons, and each year they go into proverbial marketing battle over which one is … Continue reading Race Review: Hampton Court Half Marathon

Race Review: River Thames Half Marathon

When one race finishes, the hunt for another race starts, cause once you have caught the running bug, you’ve caught it.  After the RunThrough UK Wimbledon Common Half Marathon (read my race recap here) I was looking for something flat, close to home, and that I’d not done before.  I came across the River Thames Half Marathon, organised by River Thames Running. The time was … Continue reading Race Review: River Thames Half Marathon

Race Review: Cabbage Patch 10

It’s no exaggeration that everyone in this area (Teddington, Twickenham, Richmond) runs the Cabbage Patch 10 Miler – well maybe a small exaggeration – but you get my drift.  You see those characteristic white long sleeve race tops everywhere, and say casually (mid summer) to any runner what they have coming up, and will undoubtable say the Cabbage Patch. The route runs from/to Twickenham by … Continue reading Race Review: Cabbage Patch 10

Race Report: Wimbledon Half Marathon

I’ve never done a RunThroughUK race yet, but they have lots of them organised in my local area and I’ve been tempted.  They seemed like a professional organisation, with a good website, an interesting selection of events.  When looking for a summer half marathon, I found the Wimbledon Common Half Marathon on the 5th of August. 3 things made me book: Sunday is Runday: Being … Continue reading Race Report: Wimbledon Half Marathon
